ProtonMedia’s CEO to Detail Pharma’s First Virtual Scientific Poster Session at ShareFEST 2010
Presentation will feature Merck’s published study of 3-D virtual worlds for enterprise collaboration, information sharing, and content management
Lansdale, Pa.—March 31, 2010—ProtonMedia, the developer of the ProtoSphere social teaming and collaboration platform, today announced that Chief Executive Officer, Ron Burns, will present at the inaugural ShareFEST Conference 2010 on Thursday, April 8 from 11:25 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EST at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. The company will also be exhibiting on the show floor and demoing ProtoSphere at booth #2.
In his presentation, titled “Virtual Conferences Becoming a Reality,” Burns will demonstrate the 3-D virtual symposium platform Merck created and used to conduct the pharmaceutical industry’s first virtual scientific poster session. A study of this poster session was featured in the March issue of Nature Chemistry. Burns will discuss how ProtonMedia’s ProtoSphere 3-D collaboration platform was used to deploy and run the virtual conference. He will also share survey results and metrics gathered from participants after the event, as well as Merck’s conclusions about using 3-D virtual world technology as part of a pharmaceutical company’s drug pipeline development.
“Merck also sees the future potential in pairing SharePoint with a 3-D virtual world like ProtoSphere to take the company beyond online meetings and events to accelerate decision making around all phases of their product lifecycle,” says Burns. “Merck’s innovative thinking illustrates the essential role this technology will play in overcoming barriers to knowledge transfer, collaboration, and learning in the enterprise.”
ProtonMedia’s ProtoSphere is the only 3-D virtual collaboration platform that integrates with Microsoft SharePointservices and content. By adding ProtonMedia’s SharePoint Media Carousel to their ProtoSphere environment, companies extend their SharePoint investment and processes while they cut travel costs, raise productivity, improve engagement, and speed learning with ProtoSphere.
The ShareFEST Conference 2010 will take place April 8-9, 2010 at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. The conference is focused on the use of Microsoft Office SharePoint by pharmaceutical, medical device, contract research, and biotechnology firms.
